If You Only Do One Thing in 2022

If you do only ONE THING in 2022, I suggest you do what it takes to get feedback from your people.

Meaningful feedback. Clear feedback. Actionable feedback. Not just another survey with vague questions which measure happiness. Not another survey with poor response rates, and equally poor/vague answers. The only way to really do this correctly is to do it in person, specifically with a third party- one with no pre-conceived biases or impressions. The third party should conduct the feedback session confidentially, and in person or by phone. DON’T just do anonymous surveys that do little to affect your productivity, retention, quality, cost and other key business metrics.

90% of people are reluctant to give specific feedback because of fear of repercussions.

But also, there is a fear from management of receiving feedback because of
fear of failure.

Simply put, if a person or manager receives negative feedback, they perceive they have “failed.”

Don’t overcomplicate it. Start with a simple heath check of your group or organization. How do the actions or behavior you are tracking today impact performance?

We’ve gone into clients and in a day or two have received feedback that identified immediate, fixable actions, while avoiding future pitfalls and pain.

REMEMBER... REAL Change Can Be Painful

Most organizations are concerned that new actions taken would require change which produces discomfort. We’ve seen it actually STOP COMPANIES FROM ACTING ON IT. Why? They are either getting feedback they haven’t heard before (70% of them) or they haven’t learned how to deliver or receive the feedback. So they abandon the process.

CHANGE IS MEANT TO CREATE DISCOMFORT. YOU’VE GOT TO SIGN UP TO IT.

Why is this so critical right now?
  • Because of the Resignation Tsunami.
  • Because high turnover is killing your numbers, both your productivity and bottom-line cost.
  • Because you can’t take corrective actions or make meaningful changes without good data.
  • Because previous engagement surveys/projects don’t produce measurable increases in performance.

How Should It Be Done?
  • Listen, don’t just “hear.”
  • Don’t defend. It keeps those from providing the feedback from continuing to provide feedback.
  • Reward input when you receive it. This will help you get MORE meaningful feedback.
  • Show your commitment to results by making changes.
  • Consider using an outside party for objectivity.

How We Help
We help not only collect the feedback, but help execute the actionable items and affect the change.

We’re proud of the clients we do business with, and we’re proud that they want to change the world.

SO IF YOU DO NOTHING ELSE IN 2022, CONSIDER DOING A ‘HEALTH CHECK” ON YOUR ORGANIZATION BY GETTING MEANINGFUL FEEDBACK.
