Perhaps you are thinking of adopting some of our views to be your own. Perhaps you think you can do this on your own. Perhaps this is true, but we believe Ralph Waldo Emerson said it best in his quote that says “Each man has his own vocation, his talent is his call. There is one direction in which all space is open to him.” Our “space” if you will is in leadership assessment. It is an art form that is studied and cultivated over many years and it simply isn’t something the average person can glean through a book, symbiosis or from a burning desire to know.
If you still disagree, take a look at your own company. Everything is running smoothly? Your turnover is fairly low and succession planning is not an issue? Reports show just about everyone in your company is not only paying for themselves but making you a profit? If that’s the case, then we are very pleased for you and there is no doubt, you certainly don’t need our help. You obviously have such an exceptional Staffing Manager that he/she is probably being underpaid. Watch out because we know a couple thousand companies who are out looking for this rare specimen!
Take some time to do the math. If things are not coming along so remarkably well, you may want to ask yourself if all the claims of excellence in assessment within your organization have been anything more than hollow words and wishful thinking. Perhaps to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, we should say this: Maybe the problem is that people don’t know that they do not know. Let me share with you a thought to explain this:
Most people, when asked who made the first Trans-Atlantic flight, will answer, “why, Charles Lindbergh, of course”. Not true. That’s what we were taught in school but we were only given a partial picture. Is it our educator’s fault that we do not know the full story? Perhaps. Then again, might it be that it was up to you to discover the real facts?
